The Center for Civil Communications has been established in April, 2005 as a nongovernmental, nonprofit, and nonpartisan association of citizens. In its more than ten years’ operation, the CCC has focused its work on two groups of mutually related activities: (1) monitoring of state institutions, and on the basis of this, recommending measures and policies for enhancing their work and for narrowing the room for corruption, and (2) enhancing the abilities of the journalists and the special role of the media and the nongovernmental organizations in the fight against corruption.

In this regard, the CCC has so far composed and suggested several hundreds of concrete recommendations for taking measures for enhancing the legislation and the practice in terms of more a transparent, accountable, and responsible working of the central and local governments; it has trained over 250 journalists from the national and local media in investigating and reporting on corruption, and it has published around twenty researches and manuals. CCC representatives regularly participate in workshops and expert groups for creating strategies and measures for the fight against corruption and for other issues related to the areas of CCC’ operation.
